Sylvain Lefebvre has been given permission to talk to another NHL team about head job in organization. Not sure what team yet tho

Possible replacement for Brent Thompson?

This team needs to bring in winning professional coaches in all levels of the Islanders organization, dont know much about Suddsy, but all i did hear was that his teaching techniques has helped the kids, an i know Dunham has been here also, but never heard anyone give him praise for anything. This cost-cutting move better not cripple the development process,
some strange reason, I think it will......

Milbury did a disgusting job with this team. He ruined their whole franchise. Asides from that they haven't had much luck either especially with DiPietro's development. So what do they need? A #1 goalie, 2 top 6 defenseman and forwards, and a lot of depth. I don't believe in the snow though...

According to BD, this wasn't a cost cutting move. Just simple parting of ways.

We have two goalies in the system that both look to be promising, obviously nothing is guaranteed. We could use a 2nd line center (hopefully Strome works out), a RW to play with JT, and some better defense. One top four guy or two legitimate quality defenders.

Yeah I agree. Poulin and Nilsson do look promising as well as Strome, which should work out, but nothing is certain. Hopefully Paranteau resigns and they get some extra help on the back end and get some stronger depth. Personally, I think they should go after Harding if they're looking for a goalie from free agency. Salvador could be a good fit for the Isle

BD doesn't work for the Islanders and has never shied away from being critical of them before. I don't have a reason to not believe him.

As far as defense, I'd like to see them go after Carle, Jackman, or Allen. I'd be OK with Salvador on a 1yr contract. I'd like to see PA back, but I'm not going to have a heart attack if he's not. Elliot Friedman said yesterday that he doesn't think the Isles want him back, which makes no sense to me. Unless maybe he's looking for an absurd amount of money.

"Well, the Stanley Cup has been awarded to the LA Kings"?!?!? Awarded? really? Not earned? or at the very least WON? Call it symantics or whatever but "awarded"?!?!? I guess my ballot was lost in the mail.

Dunham is Garth's buddy. Having said this I'm not going to get bent out of shape in losing Suddsy. I will be more upset if we end up losing PA for nothing.

I tend to not like BD either, but not because he does bad work. I just don't agree with a lot of his opinions. Either way, it's not a huge deal to me.

I unfollowed him on twitter because I was sick and tired of seeing pictures of him smoking cigars and the different beers he was drinking. He does know his stuff and is definitely a credible reporter, but I just don't share the same opinions as him. The cigars and booze was just the annoying kicker.

Well the Isle have quite a bit of cap space to make room, but the most I would take him if he wanted a crap load of money would be 3 or 4. I never really liked Salvador either. I find he takes too many penalties and can be unreliable and unpredictable at times. But I can see him being a decent fit for them. Hamonic is looking good but I think they need more of an offensive d-man

We'll still have Streit to keep that covered for this year, but I'd still like to take a stab at Wideman (not literally ). Hoping deHaan can be that guy eventually, but not banking on it.

We definitely have the space to make a bit of a splash, but unfortunately it isn't a particularly good free agency crop this year, outside of Parise/Suter and Semin. It's not hard to upgrade the Isles defense from last year. One of any of the guys I mentioned in my last post would be an upgrade over probably at least half of last years defensemen.

I'm sure they'll try to go after Paris, Suter, Semin, and especially Schultz but who knows where he'll sign. Both Snow and Tambellini aren't risking anything and are just playing it safe and simple by drafting and acquiring young players and getting rid of the old ones. Hopefully Forsberg, Galchenyuk, Grigorenko, or possible Murray if he's still available and they choose to take him, can make an immediate impact for the team. My prediction is the Oil draft Yaks, Jackets play it safe and draft Murray while the Canadiens take Galchenyuk resulting in the Isle taking Forsberg which I think they should over Grigorenko.
